Luis began
his career in the hospitality industry
more than twenty years ago as a travel
agent in his home town of Caracas,
Venezuela. After attending Oklahoma
City University he moved to
Washington, DC in 1991, where he
worked for several local travel
agencies.
His career
as a concierge began with his position
at the Capitol Hilton under the expert
guidance and training of Shujat Khan.
When a colleague at the Hilton,
Guillaume Tournaire, was asked to join
in the opening of the new Ritz
Carleton concierge desk, he asked Luis
to join him. After three years at the
Ritz; with positions in the club
concierge and hotel lobby, Luis
accompanied Mr. Tournaire in the
opening of the concierge desk at the
elegant Mandarin Oriental Hotel, where
he worked until his current position.
Since 2004
he has been Head Concierge at the
historic Hotel Monaco in the new and
vibrant Penn Quarter neighborhood of
DC. He is a member of the Washington

the business is “doing the best you
can in order to fulfill your guest’s
needs”. |
